Cell phones or wireless telephones have made our lives easier. They aren’t merely used to make calls or send messages, but to store photos, surf internet, for listening to music, setting alarm, reminders etc. Phones were invented to save our time. But we are well aware of the fact that the device which was supposed to save our precious time eats up all of our time. Wherever you go, people are glued to the screen. Do you know if you hide somebody’s phone, the person might have a panic attack if unable to find his phone? Shocking, right?
Be honest and ask yourself how much time do you spend on your phone. Probably the only time you keep your cell phone away from your body is while sleeping.
There’re numerous social, medical and technical problems associated with the use of mobile phones. People have stopped socializing. Everybody is so much into mobile phones that they forget about the real world. As soon as working people reach home, their hands reach out for their phones. Young people go on a date but instead of interacting with each other keep on checking their phones. People go on family dinners but everybody is engaged in conversation with someone who is at the other pole, ignoring the person sitting right beside them. Kids aged 10-12 years own cell phones and spend their entire day using phones. People feel an urge to post everything that’s happening in their lives on social media and keep on checking after every 5 min how many likes their post has got. There’s no family time.
Mobiles have not only destroyed our social life but have proved to be hazardous for our health too. The microwaves emitted from the phones do exactly what a microwave does to the food,i.e. cooking the brain. In addition to leading to the development of brain tumors, there are a whole lot of other problems which are caused by the excessive use of mobile phones. Usage of cell phones beyond limit increases the risk of procuring brain damage due to increased heating of brain cells other than risking loss in hearing and vision. The risk is greater for children because their skull is thin as compared to adults. Usually, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for anything but in the case of smartphones, the problems associated with mobile phones have outweighed the advantages.
Mobiles are for our convenience. Their use needs to be regulated. Phones are getting smarter and people are getting dumber. Instead of letting a machine take control of your life, take control of your own life.
