Modern life is stressful, isn’t it? Wherever you go, whoever you meet, there is stress everywhere. We can say ‘stress is in the air’.
Constant pressure to excel at everything, job stress, nagging by parents, peer pressure, everything causes stress. As we are advancing in technology, stress levels are alarmingly increasing with each passing year. Earlier, people used to live simply without any intense lifestyle. Most importantly, they listened to the biological clocks of their bodies. But now, we stress our body and mind. There ‘s cut throat competition in every field. Everybody is a part of the rat race and this constant pressure to ahead has contributed to the increase in stress levels among people.
Today, everybody is stressed out but teens are the most stressed ones. Constant pressure by parents, nagging, comparisons with others, peer pressure, all these things are driving teens into depression and it’s only getting worse over the years. Once young ones hit puberty, they experience body changes which normally adds to their anxiety. Parents pressurize their children to perform well day in and day out. What’s saddening is that parents don’t even realize what harm they are causing to their own kids by pressurizing them, to satisfy their own ego. If you don’t hear your child out, don’t pay any heed to his dreams or aspirations and keep telling him to do what you want him to do and become in life, just keep in mind that you may lose your child forever, to depression and suicide.
Stress levels in teenagers have reached record levels and guess who most of them blame? Their parents. Yes! Don’t make your kid study science just because you wanted to be a doctor or an engineer or whatever else it was. It might make you happy but it would make your child unhappy for the rest of his life. You surely don’t wanna be a villain in his life.
Teens experience stress because of parental and academic pressure. And what about the older ones? It’s surprising that we don’t have time for our selves. No time for leisure activities, to time to unwind our minds, to time for our own hobbies. How come we don’t have time for our own body and mind when we have time for everything else? That ‘s sheer nonsense, isn’t it? Do some yoga, meditate, laugh and live a healthy and happy life. If you can’t spare 30 minutes for yourself and stress you body and mind and drag your family into that too, there’s nothing anybody else can do for you.
