You will get 5 seconds of preparation time and this is very significant. The reason behind this is this that better preparation leads to better explanation and then you will be given 40 seconds of speaking time. In this make sure, you talk for more than 35 seconds because this way the content marks will be more, as well as pronunciation and fluency, will be more if you talk for more than 35 seconds rather than just speaking for 25 seconds.

How To Utilize Preparation Time In PTE Academic Describe Image Part (25 Seconds)

The first thing to notice is –

• Look quickly at the type of image given in the PTE Speaking.
• Look at the heading of the image.
• Then look at the X axis sometimes years, weeks, time frame and items are also given on the X axis.
• Look at the Y Axis and here sometimes units, percentage and numbers are given.
• Look for the keys mentioned on the bottom or on the left side of the graph.
• Don’t forget to look for the maximum and minimum figures.

These six things are very crucial to notice because if you prepare these things, you will be able to speak clearly and properly in next 40 seconds of the time.

Let’s take an example –

The first thing to notice is the type of Graph/Diagram (Bar Diagram). The heading is (Use of mobiles and Landlines used across the world that is given in percentage). Key is mobile and landline, which is given on the right side. X Axis tells from 2010 to 2015 and 2020 to 2025 means data is in future. So this graph is giving us the future predictions so make sure while explaining this, you use the future tense.

Another Example –

The first thing to notice is the type of graph (Line Graph). Next, is heading (Consumption of two food items in India and those food items are Potatoes and Carrots). Then X Asis (From 1990 to 1998) and then Y Asis gave units (Kilograms/person). So while doing that just make sure, you talk to your selfs because this will boost your confidence and second thing, you will memorize some of the data. So it will be easy for you to speak.
