One of the most conspicuous trend of today’s world is the colossal upsurge in the tendency of youngsters to go towards extreme sports like skydiving, skiing, wrestling. This is a risky pursuit and athletes often get indulged in these activities without ensuring adequate safety measures. In this essay, I will delve deeper and examine these issues and try to reach a logical conclusion.
To begin with, there are a myriad of arguments in favour of my stance. One of the most prominent aspect is that youngsters, nowadays, in the urge to make their life happening and to bring excitement and thrill in their sedantory lifestyle, consider these adventure sports the right choice. Undoubtedly, these sports enable the athletes to reach an entirely different world and help them overcome the problems and stress of life. For instance, sports like skiing and skydiving can be enjoyed the most in the lap of nature. The mesmerising beauty of nature not only captivates the athletes and spectators but sports in such environment rejuvenates them. Moreover, industries launching these sports earn multi billion dollars each year because of the popularity of these amongst the youth.
However, on the contrary, there are deluge of arguments that oppose this notion. One of the most conspicuous one is the tremendous risk involved in playing these sports. Often the athletes suffer extreme injuries while playing them without proper safety devices. For instance, about 4 million injuries were recorded between 200-2011 caused due to extreme sports. Moreover, despite knowing the precarious consequences of adventure sports, youth still bend towards these sports.
In the views of arguments outlined above, one can conclude that the drawbacks of extreme sports are too dire to ignore and merits need consideration. Statutory bodies should enforce strict laws to ensure the safety of athletes while playing these games. Non Governmental Organisations should come forward and spread awareness about how to enjoy these sports being safe.
